This week's book is Wombat Walkabout and as a way of me celebrating having reached a lucky 13 followers, I will be doing my first book giveaway. The rules are simple. You just have to become a follower, if you are not already, and leave a comment telling me which of the books I have talked about is one you would love to have and why. I would ideally like to have at least 10 comments and I will pick one at random, but please do not be discouraged if you are the only one..that just means you will be lucky winner! So spread the word to all your book loving friends and thank you all for having taken the time to look at my blog. I really do appreciate your time!
Side note, if you have left a comment on any of my book posts, I will also add those to the pool.
Good luck!

  1. Though I share a great love of children's book for their colorful subtelties and simple but always endearing stories, there are a couple of books you have mentioned that I absolutely love, though this will come as no surprise. I believe it was back in college when we both accidentally discovered our profound adoration and fondess for the porcine heroine that is "Olivia". Falconer's understated monocromatic illustrations with loud bursts of vermillion is a delight for the eyes...but it is Olivia's moxie and determination that won me over.
I would have to say that "Anatole" is another of our mutual likes...what is not to love about a French mouse who sports a black beret and a little red ascot and rides on a bike across the cobblestone streets of Paris? And a mouse who does what he loves most?! It's so endearing that even a children's book illustrates the importance of doing what you LOVE at all costs and doing it well.
There is a book that you mentioned that I've never read but am so curious to read because it sounds as if it was written about my little resident furry fatty. "Mr. Pusskins" by Sam Lloyd seems just the fit for my Stinky's 'tude. I think it would be delightful to read about this kitty cat and see the illustrations perfectly mirror the brooding little creature. It sounds delightful!
And lastly, I'm itching to read "The Secret Circus" by Johanna Wright because I love all things French and the idea of this secret world in the underbelly of Paris city streets where kitties and mice play circus ringmasters and entertainers sounds like a dream come true.
